Lahiri Mahasaya
As a householder yogi, Lahiri Mahasaya was a little known saint whose remarkable introduction to his Guru Mahavatar Babaji occurred while walking in the foothills of the Himalayas. He forbade his disciples from writing about himself or his mission predicting it would be done appropriately at a much later time. The "Autobiography of a Yogi", written by Paramahansa Yogananda, is the book that he predicted would explain the important benefits of Kriya Yoga meditation and how his life was connected to bringing it into the world from historical obscurity.
"Remember that you belong to no one and no one belongs to you. Reflect that some day you will suddenly have to leave everything in this world - so make the acquaintance of God now. Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by riding daily in a balloon of divine perception."
"Through delusion, you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best, is a nest of troubles. Meditate unceasingly, that you quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. Cease being a prisoner of the body; using the secret key of Kriya, learn to escape into Spirit."
"Divine union is possible through self-effort, and is not dependent on theological beliefs or on the arbitrary will of a Cosmic Dictator."

Paramahansa Yogananda
Chosen by Mahavatar Babaji to go to the West and introduce the science of Kriya Yoga meditation and the similarities between the teachings of Bhagavan Krishna in the Bhagavad-Gita and Lord Jesus Christ from the New Testament.
While emphasizing the underlying unity of the world's great religions Yogananda emphasized the Royal Path of Yoga, combining devotion to God, service to one’s fellow man, and the daily dedicated practice of the consciousness evolving Kriya yoga meditation technique.
He was the first great Yoga Master to spend over 40 years in America, tirelessly establishing meditation centers and the training of suitable disciples that could carry on the mission of disseminating his teachings. He taught his students the need for direct experience of truth, which in its ultimate sense can only be realized by an expanded state of consciousness as opposed to blind belief. He said that “The true basis of religion is not belief, but intuitive experience. Intuition is the soul’s power of knowing God. To know what religion is really all about, one must know God.” And that to know God one has to have the blessing of an expansion of bliss filled consciousness. This liberated blessing can be earned by self-effort; correct behavior as well as scientific spiritual meditation techniques which can speed up man’s evolution towards it.
He worked countless quiet miracles in his life to help others. But many have agreed that one of his greatest written miracles was his bestselling spiritual classic, the “Autobiography of a Yogi”. As a life-changing book, millions have been deeply surprised to find its inspiring stories awaken an enthusiastic desire to change their life in such a way that pursues the needed self-development for attaining greater happiness.
“The happiness of one's own heart alone cannot satisfy the soul; one must try to include, as necessary to one's own happiness, the happiness of others.”
.
“There is a magnet in your heart that will attract true friends. That magnet is unselfishness, thinking of others first... when you learn to live for others, they will live for you.”
“Remain calm, serene, always in command of yourself. You will then find out how easy it is to get along.”
“There are always two forces warring against each other within us.”
“Weaken a bad habit by avoiding everything that occasioned it or stimulated it, without concentrating upon it in your zeal to avoid it. Then divert your mind to some good habit and steadily cultivate it until it becomes a dependable part of you.”

Babaji
Mahavatar Babaji is the Supreme Guru in the line of Masters of the Self Realization Fellowship and the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India. In 1920 He told Paramahansa Yogananda, "You are the one I have chosen to spread the message of Kriya Yoga in the West...the scientific technique of God-Realization will ultimately spread in all lands, and aid in harmonizing the nations through man's personal transcendental perception of the Infinite Father."
Below are some quotes from the great Master related in the spiritual classic, "Autobiography of a Yogi."
"For the fault of the many, judge not the whole. Everything on Earth is of mixed character, like a mingling of sand and sugar. Be like the wise ant that seizes only the sugar, and leaves the sand untouched."
"By serving wise and ignorant sadhus, I am learning the greatest of virtues, pleasing to God above all others - humility."
"Truth is for earnest seekers, not for those of idle curiosity. It is easy to believe when one sees; no soul searching's are then necessary. Super sensual truth is deservedly discovered by those who overcome their natural materialistic skepticism."

Swami Sri Yukteswar
Swami Sri Yukteswar was little known to the outside world until Paramahansa Yogananda introduced how his Guru trained him in the ancient yoga tradition from the pages of "Autobiography of a Yogi." Below are several quotes associated with true anecdotal stories he tells to the young Yogananda in this popular spiritual classic.
"Look fear in the face and it will cease to trouble you."
"Attachment is blinding; it lends an imaginary halo of attractiveness to the object of desire."
"Good and positive suggestions should instruct the sensitive ears of children. Their early ideas long remain sharply etched."
"Tender inner weaknesses, revolting at mild touches of censure, are like diseased body parts, recoiling before even delicate handling."
"Some people try to be tall by cutting off the heads of others!"
"Everything in the future will improve if you make the spiritual effort now."

Krishna
Bhagavan Krishna was the eighth incarnation of Vishnu who lived in India five thousand years ago.
One of the meanings given for the word Krishna in the Hindu scriptures is "Omniscient Spirit." Thus "Krishna", like the word "Christ", is a title signifying the spiritual oneness with God.
The title Bhagavan means Lord, and the Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord" is the best known gospel of Lord Krishna instructing his disciple Arjuna on the eve of the historic battle of Kurukshetra (3000 B.C.).
The Gita is a timeless prescription for happiness and success in everyday living, showing how the science of correct living and thinking (Yoga) when adopted can lead one to a blissful deep inner state of communion with God. A recently published interpretation of the Bhagavad-Gita by Paramahansa Yogananda has brought to light many of the profound similarities between Krishna's precepts and those of the Lord Jesus Christ.
"He who perceives Me everywhere, and beholds everything in Me, never loses sight of Me, nor do I ever lose sight of him."
